DAVAO CITY, Philippines – At least six soldiers were wounded in a clash with New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in Digos City, Davao del Sur on Monday night, the military said.
The wounded soldiers, who belong to the Army’s 39th Infantry Battalion, engaged the guerrillas in an hour-long encounter in Barangay Kapatagan.
The wounded soldiers were identified as Sgt. Eliseo Perano, Cpl. Marcelino Bagood Jr., Pfcs Olomodin Dicampong, Lory Kim Lacal and Genesis Quilaton, and Pvt. Michael Guibao.
A certain Cpl. Ricky Tuarez was initially reported to have been missing but was said to have been found later in an undisclosed place. He was reported to be in good condition.
Two NPA rebels were also wounded in the encounter, according to the military.
