CAMP GUILLERMO NAKAR, Lucena City , Philippines – A an alleged ranking official of the New People’s Army (NPA) facing murder case and his companion were arrested by a combined police and military team in Naga City, Camarines Sur yesterday morning.
Sylvestre Layones, alias “Ka Dex,†and “Ka Mel†was reportedly the head of the NPA’s Regional Urban Committee and a member of the Bicol Regional Party Committee, according to Southern Luzon Command chief Lt. Gen. Caesar Ronnie Ordoyo.
Layones was arrested based on a warrant issued by Legaspi Judge Frank Lobrigo for the crime of murder.
Authorities placed under custody a certain Christopher Edrinal who was with Layones during the arrest. The two were brought to the Naga City police office for investigation.
