CAMP S.K. PENDATUN, Maguindanao - A 54-year-old Tausog man was killed while a 4-year-old child was badly wounded by stray bullets fired by still unidentified revelers in Jolo town in Sulu on the eve of New Year’s Day.
The office of Sulu Gov. Sakur Tan II, in a statement, said the fatality, Musa Lagayan, 54, died from a bullet wound in the head.
The wounded child, Mazen Gumampang, is now undergoing treatment in Zamboanga City.
Chief Supt. Noel Delos Reyes, director of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) police, has confirmed the death of Lagayan, and assured that investigators will do their best to determine who could have fired the bullet that killed him.
Delos Reyes said the governor of Sulu has asked local officials in Jolo, capital town of the island province to help in the investigation.
Delos Reyes said a member of the ARMM police is also being investigated now for firing an issued firearm on the eve of New Year’s Day while in a secluded barangay in Parang town in Maguindanao.
