MANILA, Philippines - Police investigators are now looking at three groups that might be responsible for the robbery at a big shopping mall in Quezon City Sunday night.
During a press conference at the Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City Police District director Senior Superintendent Richard Albano said investigators are now trying to trim the number to a single group that robbed SM North Edsa.
"Tatlo ang tinututukan natin ngayon na grupo...we will trim down to one target para sigurado tayo 'di baleng mabagal basta sigurado," Albano said.
Asked if there is a possibility that the group of robbers that attacked the SM Megamall last January was the same that staged the heist at SM North Edsa, Albano said "may posibilidad pero hindi kasiguruhan."
Meanwhile, Albano said there is still no estimate of the amount of jewelry taken by the members of the "Martilyo" robbery gang from the jewelry store inside the mall Sunday night. Initial reports said that about P5-million worth of jewelry was carted away by the robbers.
