MANILA, Philippines - Two suspected motorcycle robbers were shot dead by police officers who tried to arrest them for allegedly attempting to sell a stolen motorcycle in Antipolo City on Saturday.
The robbers, who have yet to be identified, died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds, according to Rizal police director Senior Superintendent Rolando Anduyan.
Investigators recovered two caliber .38 revolvers and a Kawasaki Barako 175 motorcycle at the scene.
Prior to the shootout, the city police’s intelligence unit and the Special Weapons and Tactics Team set up an entrapment operation along Cabrera Road in Barangay San Roque.
The suspects reportedly sped off when they sensed that they were dealing with a police officer. One of them reportedly fired at the pursuing policemen, triggering a firefight.
