COTABATO CITY, Philippines  – The Humanitarian Emergency Assistance and Relief Team (HEART) of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao  has provided medical and rehabilitation support to 49 Muslim families in Tacloban City, ARMM officials said.

The displaced Muslim families, mostly from ARMM provinces, were among thousands the HEART had served during its relief missions in Tacloban City and more than a dozen towns in Leyte.

The HEART operates under the ministerial control of ARMM Gov. Mujiv Hataman.

Reports reaching Hataman’s office indicated that HEART workers, tasked to serve typhoon victims in Tolosa town in Leyte, had provided Muslims in Tacloban City with food packs comprised of rice, canned sardines, instant noodles, and assorted medicines for various ailments.

Volunteers who participated in the HEART’s relief and rehabilitation efforts in Leyte had also distributed non-relief goods, such as sleeping mats, and other provisions to the dislocated Muslim families, according to reports.

The HEART had shipped 30 truckloads of relief supplies to Leyte, including Tacloban City, between November 12 and 21 in support of the humanitarian missions of the national government and various international outfits in the area.
