MANILA, Philippines - In a rare move, three leading newspapers in Cebu united for a shared cause to do their part in the relief operations in typhoon-hit areas in the province.
The Freeman of the STAR Group of Publications joined Sun Star Cebu and Cebu Daily news to track monetary donations and relief goods ensuring they reach intended beneficiaries.
Part of the work would be gathering information from government and private organizations to build a comprehensive database on the kinds and amount of aid given whether they have reached disaster areas in the region.
"We can then help identify the other forms of help needed and the areas that aren't getting enough response. The consolidated data will also be shared with the public," The Freeman editor Joeberth Ocao said.
