MANILA, Philippines - A 60-year-old man was reported injured when fire struck a residential area in Barangay East Rembo in Makati Wednesday afternoon.
The Makati Command, Control and Communication Center (Makati 3C) identified the victim as Victor Munoz.
According to the Makati 3C, Munoz was rushed to the nearby Ospital ng Makati. It however did not say what were Munoz's injuries and if he was a resident of the barangay.
The Makati Fire Department said the fire started at 12:23 p.m. at the corner of 28th Avenue and J. P. Rizal Extension.
Makati Fire chief Ricardo Perdigon said the fire was quickly contained and did not reach the first alarm.
At 12:30 p.m., the fire was placed under control by responding firefighters from the Makati Central Fire Station and was able to put it out by 12:34 p.m.
"We were able to contain the fire. It did not spead," said Perdigon.
Perdigon said the fire only managed to partially burn one house. He added that arson probers are still looking deeper into the incident.
