30 cop execs sacked over inaccurate crime data

MANILA, Philippines - Thirty Western Visayas police officials, including the police director of Aklan, have been relieved from their posts for under-reporting crimes in their respective turfs, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).

PNP chief Director General Alan Purisima ordered the relief of Senior Superintendent Pedroto Escrilla, Aklan police director, and 12 police chiefs in Western Visayas (Region 6) for allegedly violating the strict command policy on accurate crime reporting.

“I have emphasized time and again that the basis of our actions in the higher headquarters are the inputs from the lower units, therefore it is imperative that we get the accurate data, statistics and information so we can act accordingly,” Purisima said.

Senior Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac, PNP public information chief, said 17 police commanders were earlier relieved by Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr., Western Visayas police director, while the relief of 13 other police chiefs was ordered by the PNP national headquarters. – With Danny Dangcalan
