LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines – Two of four persons injured in an explosion allegedly triggered by a leaking liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tank in Barangay Gogon died on Sunday, police said yesterday.
Robert Ong, 34, and Rolando Alegre,34, died while undergoing treatment at the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital here, where two other victims, Madona Que and Dennis Llaneta, remain in critical condition.
City police chief Superintendent Robert Morico said the store where the explosion occurred was allegedly engaged in illegal LPG refilling.
Morico said they recovered at least 60 LPG tanks from the store. The Bureau of Fire Protection expressed the belief that one of the tanks leaked and triggered the explosion.
