LAGUNA , Philippines – Three civilians, including a 10-year-old girl, were seriously wounded by stray bullets during an altercation between two groups of customers in a nightclub in San Pedro town before dawn last Saturday, police said.
Only two of the victims were identified as Emmanuel Colobong, 26, a scavenger, and Kritina Cassandra Hidalgo, 10.
Police said the shooting erupted at Coco Club in Barangay Nueva, San Pedro following a verbal tussle between the two groups, one of them supposedly led by a police officer.
The policeman reportedly took his gun from his car and fired at their rival, but missed and instead hit the three civilians. Both warring groups immediately fled from the scene.
