MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency on Thursday destroyed P964.94-million worth of dangerous drugs in Malabon City.
Destroyed were a total of 722.4 kilos of assorted pieces of drug evidence composed of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, cocaine, ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, marijuana, ecstasy, valium, expired medicines, and 4.3 liters of liquid dangerous drugs.
The destruction was held at the Clean Leaf International Corp. located at 397 M. H. Del Pilar St., Barangay Maysilo, Malabon City.
“Based on the record and consolidated report of the PDEA Laboratory Service, these considerable volume of dangerous drugs and expired medicines were properly turned over and endorsed with corresponding documentation to PDEA by other law enforcement agencies," PDEA director general Arturo Cacdac Jr.said.
PDEA officials and other law enforcement agencies, representatives from the Department of Justice, the Dangerous Drugs Board, the Pubic Attorney’s Office, non-government organizations and media witnessed the destruction through thermal decomposition.
Thermal decomposition is the process by which various compounds are broken down into single units by the application of heat.
