KIDAPAWAN CITY - The Department of Agriculture's (DA) office in Region 12 has announced that it will construct a waste-recycling plant that can produce organic fertilizers that local farmers can utilize.
Amalia Jayag-Datukan, regional DA director, turned over to Mayor Joseph Evangelista during a meeting at the mayor’s office on Tuesday a compiled project study on the viability of setting up the facility.
The waste-recycling plant is designed to produce organic foliar fertilizer that the city government can disperse to its farming constituents.
Evangelista said the facility will be constructed in Barangay Binoligan.
He said he is certain they can run the organic waste recycling plant well owing to the efficiency of the city government’s solid waste management program.
Datukan said organic foliar fertilizers are more economical and have no adverse effects on the environment. She said DA regional office will bankroll the construction of the facility.
Datukan also revealed that her office will construct this year a P5 million farm-to-market road that will connect a farming enclave in Barangay Sikitan to trading centers in surrounding barangays.
