STA. BARBARA, Pangasinan, Philippines – Police officers should conduct a thorough, objective and speedy investigation on the attempted murder of a newspaper publisher in Barangay Minien West in this town last Tuesday, Gov. Amado Espino Jr. said yesterday.
“The law enforcers must act with dispatch in bringing the culprits to justice,†provincial information officer Orpheus Velasco quoted Espino in text message sent to The STAR.
Espino was referring to Jaime Aquino, 45, publisher of the Northern Star. He is a co-respondent of the governor and Rep. Jesus Celeste in a murder case for allegedly plotting the killing of Infanta, Pangasinan mayor Ruperto Martinez in December last year.
