Officials of Benguet town survive road mishap

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet  --  Village officials of Kibungan town in Benguet who survived a highway mishap on Wednesday  are now safe and recovering in a hospital.

This after the Toyota Tamaraw FX AUV the group of   Sagpat barangay chairman Pepito Camilo and barangay councilor Domingo Nabe were riding in plunged  into a 60-meter ravine in sitio Talabing, in the same village.

The group was reportedly travelling from their village to the town proper when the accident,  initially blamed on mechanical failure,  occurred.

The steering wheel of the AUV driven by Fernando Bag-ayan, reportedly locked, leaving  him unable to maneuver  the zigzag route towards the town proper.

All passengers, including Marciano Guilao and Calatalina Amoy, residents of Barangay Lubo, who suffered multiple injuries were brought to the Benguet General Hospital here.

Two weeks ago, 13 were killed and 19 were injured in separate vehicular accidents in Buguias and Sablan towns.

Over the weekend, Luna town in Apayao Mayor Betty Versola died in a road accident in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte.
