MANILA, Philippines - Police shot and killed three suspected robbers in Quezon City early Friday, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said.
The NCRPO identified two of the suspects through documents recovered from them as Rey Ebondas Pacatang and Adan Surio, who has a tattoo of Jesus Christ's face marked with "AMA" on his right thigh.
The third suspect was only described as between 30 and 35 years old, fair complexion, of medium built, and carrying a black shoulder bag, police said.
Initial report showed that Quezon City policemen manning a checkpoint at the Neopolitan Business Park located along Mindanao Avenue extension, Barangay Greater Lagro, flagged down the suspects who were on board a motorcycle without any helmets around 1:41 a.m.
Police said the suspects' motorcycle also had no license plate.
Instead of stopping, the suspects sped-off toward Mindanao Avenue. Police said that the suspects fired their guns when they were cornered by the operatives.
Authorities recovered from the scene two .38 revolvers, a cal.45 pistol, a hand grenade, a shoulder bag with 12 fired cartridge cases of caliber 9MM and a cartridge case of cal. 45.
