BAGUIO CITY, Philippines -- Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency operatives caught three Sudanese nationals and their Filipina cohort while smoking pot inside their rented apartment in Amado Street, Tapuac District, Dagupan City, Pangasinan Thursday afternoon.
Sudanese nationals Mohammad Almad Mustafa, 23; Mohamed Emubarak Ali, 21; El Mustafa Mahammed, 20; and 24-year-old Filipina Ampers Guntang, girlfriend of Mohammad were caught smoking marijuana.
Bismark Bengwayan, spokersperson of the PDEA-Region 1 said villagers have earlier reported to authorities violent incidents involving the suspects and the constant marijuana smell that came from the suspects' apartment, prompting anti-narcotics agents to conduct a week-long surveillance.
On Thursday, Bengwayan said, the suspects gathered for their regular pot session.
Agents seized 201.5 grams of marijuana with an estimated street value of P5,000 during the raid while several used marijuana sticks scattered on the apartment were gathered as pieces of evidence against the four.
All four were charged with section 11 and 13 or the Possession of Dangerous Drugs and Possession of Dangerous Drugs in Parties and Social Gatherings which is penalized by life imprisonment and a fine ranging from P500,000 to P10 million.
