MALOLOS CITY, Philippines – Tension gripped this Bulacan city on Sunday night as the camps of incumbent Mayor Christian Natividad and former mayor Danilo Domingo traded accusations of vote buying.
Natividad said his followers massed at City Walk Center in Barangay Catmon where massive vote buying was supposedly taking place. Police responded and diffused the tense situation.
For their part, Dennis San Diego, spokesman of Domingo’s camp, alleged that people were being hauled to Natividad’s house at Rufina Homes Subdivision in Barangay Sto. Cristo for vote buying.
Meanwhile, ballots intended for a polling precinct in Barangay Manga, Bustos town were advertently switched with ballots for Floridablanca town in Pampanga. The problem was addressed later yesterday.
