Makati Medical Center College adds more course offerings

MANILA, Philippines - Makati Medical Center College (MMCC), the base school of the Makati Medical Center,  is expanding its course offerings to make it on a par with other top schools in the country in the field of health care education.

“We maybe small but we have a vast network and we serve with a heart,” said Ofelia Odilao-Bisnar, MMCC president and chief executive officer.

A member of the Metro Pacific Investments Corp.  (MPIC) hospital group and education network, MMCC started in 1975 as a division of the Makati Medical Center. In 1978, the school was inaugurated as the Remedios T. Romualdez Memorial Schools and offered the BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) Supplemental Program. In 2010, the school was renamed anew as the Makati Medical Center College of Nursing to underscore its commitment to first-rate nursing education.

Bisnar says MMCC  has expanded its specialization to include Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology.

In addition, new certificate courses have been introduced such as Associate in Health Science Education, Healthcare Services, Emergency Medical Services, Complementary and Integrative Medicine, Pallative and Hospice Care, and a Nurse Managers Enhancement Program.

According to Bisnar, MMCC, since 2003, has been accredited by the Philippine Accreditation Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU) as an institution that provides first-rate education.

“The objective of these new offerings is for the students to have a holistic and globally competitive healthcare education and training which is responsive to the times and attuned to the latest medical systems and procedure,” Bisnar said.

“With these expansions and transformations, we continue to serve our country and the world by educating and providing compassionate, qualified and world-class health professionals and maintain a strong commitment to social responsibility through our community health services and medical missions,” she added.  - Mike Frialde with  Trish Lameyra and Pauline Tome
