1, dead 7 hurt in road mishap in Quezon City

MANILA, Philippines - A college student was killed while seven others were injured Tuesday morning after a cement mixer truck pinned her when it fell on a passenger jeep in Quezon City.

Reports said  Mary Cherry Inzon, a student of Siena College and resident of Times Street, Tandang Sora, Quezon City, was pinned to death by a 10-wheeler when it fell on a passenger jeepney on the southbound lane of Quezon Avenue.

Reports added that the two passengers of the jeep were rushed to the National Orthopedic Hospital while the five others were brought to the East Avenue Medical Center.

Meanwhile, the driver of the cement mixer truck, Reynald Duarte, was taken into custody for questioning.

The 10-wheeler cement mixer truck (ZPL-947) of  Concrete Mix Specialist Inc. fell on its side and landed on the jeepney (TVV-855) on the southbound lane of Araneta Avenue.

The accident happened near a digging of a water utility firm, the report added.

 

The accident also snarled  traffic along Araneta Avenue.
