Woman drowns self, 2 kids in Camarines

LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines – An allegedly jealous wife drowned herself and her two children in a river in Libmanan, Camarines Sur, Friday morning, police said yesterday.

The bodies of Marizel Sacro and her children – Jocelyn, 5 and Jonalyn, 3 – were found floating in Bulaong River at Barangay Buro Batia at 11 a.m. A nylon cord bound them together. Their slippers were found on the riverbank.

Senior Superintendent Renato Bataller, Bicol police spokesman, said they have yet to verify reports that the woman intentionally killed herself and her children because of her husband’s alleged affair with another woman.

Sacro’s husband Cedure told police his wife had warn him she would kill herself and their children if he would not stop his womanizing.

Cedure denied the accusation. He said that morning he left early to tend the farm at the nearby Barangay Fundado and returned home at 11 a.m.

“I was surprised when my nephew told me that my wife and children were not at home but their slippers were found near the river,” Cedure said.

Meanwhile, a three-year-old boy drowned in a river in Nueva Ecija Friday.

Aron Kyle Miranda, of Purok 1, Barangay Tabing, was earlier reported missing by her aunt Marlene Dantes who told police she last saw his nephew sitting along the bank of the Labong River.

An hour later, police received reports that a boy was fished out from the river in the nearby barangay, some 300 meters away from where he was last seen.

Miranda was rushed to the hospital in Sto. Domingo town, but he did not make it.– With Manny Galvez
