Cultural rebirth of Pangasinan lauded

Lingayen, Philippines – The guest of honor and speaker during the recent Agew na Pangasinan (Pangasinan Day) celebration commended Gov. Amado Espino Jr. for bringing back the passion of every Pangasinense to love and value the rich culture and heritage of the province.

In the program marking the province’s 433rd founding anniversary held last April 5 at the capitol plaza, Alma Quintans-Kern, an Asna awardee, reminisced her childhood when her family used the Pangasinan dialect as their medium of communication while living in Manila.

Kern, a granddaughter of former Pangasinan governors Daniel Maramba and Pedro Quintans, said her ancestors inculcated in her the value of being Pangasinense. “My ancestors slept, talked, ate and breathed Pangasinan,” she said.

In his speech, Espino outlined several projects and undertakings under his administration that were geared toward making every Pangasinense more appreciative of the province’s culture and history.
