Cops search houses of 2 Marcos town bets for guns

BAGUIO City, Philippines - Policemen on Tuesday raided the houses of feuding mayoralty bets of Marcos, Ilocos Norte.

Two firearms were discovered at the residence of businessman Arsenio Agustin, but these were licensed.

The policemen also searched the house of reelectionist Marcos town Mayor Salvador Pillos.

There were still no reports on the details on the search conducted on the incumbent mayor's residence as of this posting.

Agustin is the brother of slain municipal development officer Elpidio Agustin October last year.

Pillos earlier survived a slay attempt by motorcycle-riding gunmen in front of the Marcos Agro-industrial Complex, which was believed to have been connected to the slay of Agustin.

The towns of Marcos, Pagudpud, Pasuquin, Dingras, Sarrat and the city of Laoag have been tagged as election hotspots in Ilocos Norte.
