MAUBAN, Quezon, Philippines – The mayor here filed libel charges last Thursday against a village councilman for allegedly distributing fliers accusing him of misusing public funds.
Felimon Morales was accused of distributing fliers stating that Mayor Fernando Llamas loaned P200 million from the Philippine Veterans Bank and used the money for his personal expenses.
Llamas filed the charges after Ohna Mabilangan, 29, a resident of Barangay Lual Barrio, showed him copies of the flier.
