MANILA, Philippines - A detained American and a Chinese national found themselves in deeper trouble after yielding 10 grams of shabu inside their cell in Taguig City, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Tuesday.
PDEA director general Arturo Cacdac Jr. said American Tigor Hasonangan Shianipar, who is facing illegal drug raps and Chinese Shutak Mui, who is facing a charge of illegal possession of firearms, were caught in possession of the illegal substance during an inspection of their detention cells last January 25.
The greyhound search was conducted by the PDEA and the Bureau of Immigration at the BI Detention Center in Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan, Taguig City.
Authorities also found assorted drug paraphernalia from the detainees' cell.
"The greyhound operation was hatched upon BI’s request to ensure that detainees are not using illegal drugs and to prevent possible illegal drug transactions and activities between detained pushers and their companions outside the jail," Cacdac said.
