CEBU CITY, Philippines – Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma yesterday urged devotees to reflect on the Holy Child Jesus and on His message of building the faith.
Palma underscored this in a Pontifical Mass at the Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño here as Cebuanos marked yesterday the feast day of Sto. Niño.
In his homily, Palma recalled the canonization of the second Filipino saint and the first Visayan, San Pedro Calungsod, last Oct. 21, and the National Thanksgiving Mass last Nov. 30 at the South Road Properties which drew 1.2 million devotees from all over the country.
Palma pointed out three things in the celebration of the feast day of Sto. Niño in the Year of Faith: prayers of thanksgiving, praises, and adoration to the Holy Child Jesus.
“We should seek good things from the Lord in the Year of Faith,†he said.
Palma ended his homily by urging the faithful to let their faith grow, especially in the Year of Faith.
He said that in 2016, Cebu will host the International Eucharistic Congress, noting that the last congress was held in 1937. – Marigold Lebumfacil/Freeman
