TUGUEGARAO CITY , Philippines – The Supreme Court (SC) has dismissed a court official in Isabela who was questioned for his award of judicial notices and advertisements to a publication not circulating in the province.
Lawyer Raymundo Ramirez has appealed the SC decision to remove him as provincial clerk of court and ex-officio provincial sheriff.
The SC acted on a 2003 complaint filed by Ferdinand Bascos, publisher of the newsweekly Valley Times in Ilagan City.
Bascos accused Ramirez of favoring another publication without any circulation in Ilagan City and violating Presidential Decree 1097 that requires the raffle of judicial advertisements to accredited newspapers.
