MANILA, Philippines - Weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday spotted a low pressure area some 900 kilometers east of Mindanao.
"(A) low pressure area was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 910 km east of Mindanao. It is embedded along the intertropical convergence zone affecting Mindanao. Northeast monsson affecting Luzon," PAGASA said.
Mindanao and Eastern Visayas will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms. Cagayan Valley, Bicol Region and the provinces of Aurora and Quezon will experience cloudy skies with light rains. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy with brief rainshowers or thunderstorms," PAGASA added.
Moderate to strong will be felt all throughout the country, while coastal waters will be moderate to rough. Owing to the strong winds, fishing boats and small seacraft are told to stay away from venturing out into the sea, while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.
