MANILA, Philippines - Two regional chiefs of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) have been relieved of their posts and are now the subject of an investigation.
Undersecretary Jose Gutierrez Jr., PDEA director general, yesterday confirmed the relief of Region 3 director Lyndon Aspacio and Region 1 director Roybel Sanchez.
Gutierrez said the two are under investigation on allegations of “irregularity,” particularly the alleged planting of evidence.
Gutierrez said the agency’s Internal Affairs Service is conducting the investigation.
“They were relieved and told to remain here in the holding office so they would be readily available once their side is needed,” he said.
He said he has assigned officers in charge for the PDEA offices in Regions 1 and 3.
