SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Philippines – At least 19 of 20 mayors in the province pledged support to the reelection bid of Gov. Lilia Pineda.
The mayors joined Pineda when she filed her certificate of candidacy at the provincial office of the Commission on Elections on Friday.
The mayors are Marino Morales (Mabalacat City), Romulo Pecson (Magalang), Jerry Pelayo (Candaba), Venancio Macapagal (San Luis), Annette Balgan (Macabebe), Peter Flores (Masantol), Arturo Naguit (Minalin), Mylene Pineda-Cayabyab (Lubao), Yolly Pineda (Sta. Rita), Ric Rivera (Guagua), Eduardo Guerrero (Floridablanca), Joselito Naguit (Sto. Tomas), Jun Tetangco (Apalit), Condralito de la Cruz (Porac), Leonora Simbulan Capule Wong (San Simon), Luis Chito Espino (Arayat), Teddy Tumang (Mexico), Lala Leoncio (Sasmuan) and Rommel Omeng Concepcion (Sta. Ana).
They are all members of Kambilan, a political party that Pineda formed.
Bacolor Mayor Jose Maria Hizon said he is running as an independent candidate but is also supporting Pineda’s reelection bid.
San Fernando City Mayor Oscar Rodriguez is the only Pampanga mayor supporting the gubernatorial bid of priest-turned-politician Eddie Panlilio. They are both members of the ruling Liberal Party.
