LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines – The construction of evacuation centers in six areas in this province is expected to start next month.
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is giving a P400-million aid for the project.
Japanese consul-general Motohiko Sato, second secretary Akio Yonezawa, JICA representative Takahiro Sasaki and JICA project engineer Hayato Nakamura led the groundbreaking rites last Wednesday and Thursday.
Albay Gov. Joey Salceda said the evacuation centers would complement similar structures in Daraga, Camalig, Guinobatan and Ligao City built out of a P500-million donation by the Spanish Agencia Española Cooperacion International para el Desarollo.
The evacuation centers will be constructed at the Libon Community College, Polangui North Central School, Oas South Central School, Manito Central School, Sto. Domingo Central School and Gogon Central School.
