KORONADAL CITY, Philippines – Villagers found on Monday in a river in Surallah, South Cotabato the bodies of three persons, including two minors, reported to be victims of a landslide in gold-rich T’boli town, police said.
P02 Jerry Litsugas, an investigator of the Surallah police, told The STAR that the bodies were discovered by farmers while on their way to their rice fields last Monday morning.
Litsugas identified the victims as Jocelyn Flang, 23; Tiral Humali, 12; and April Bulak, 12, all residents of Barangay Sinolon in T’boli.
Litsugas said the victims were carried by strong current triggered by heavy rainfall in Palid River in Surallah.
Citing reports from the T’boli police, Litsugas said the victims were washing clothes along the riverbank when a landslide struck them and they were swept away.
