JICA to build P758-M Aurora bridge

DINGALAN, Aurora, Philippines  – The Japanese government, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), is building a P700-million bridge in this town that will connect this province to Quezon.

Aurora Gov. Bellaflor Angara-Castillo announced during the 56th anniversary of this town that the project involves the construction of a 358-meter bridge in Barangay Umiray.

Angara-Castillo said the construction will start in October. The provincial government will sign a memorandum of agreement with JICA officials next week.

“This is by far the biggest JICA project ever in Dingalan and it’s a grant, not a loan,” she said.

The governor said the provincial government will finance the development of the 155-meter long approach leading to the bridge.

A project brief said that aside from improving mobility of people and agricultural products in the project area, the project aims to uplift the living conditions of residents in the nearby barangays and address the isolation of some remote barangays, particularly during heavy rains and calamities.
