DAVAO CITY, Philippines – An 11-year-old child died yesterday in a landslide that struck a village in Marilog district this city.
The local office of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) warned the affected residents of Sitio Landian, Barangay Marilog to vacate their community as more landslides are expected to occur within the next few days with the heavy rainfall.

According to the Army’s 8th Infantry Battalion, eight families were affected by the landslide that killed 11-year-old Johara Unad, whose body was recovered by personnel of the 911Central Emergency Response Center.
Aside from its rescue effort, the 84th IB also provided food assistance to the affected families.
Lt. Col. Gabriel Viray III, commander of the 84th IB, said soldiers were immediately sent to the landslide-hit village to provide the necessary assistance.
