Sketch of gunman in Laguna board member's slay released

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines  – Police released yesterday the sketch of one of the alleged gunmen in the killing of provincial board member Reynaldo Paras and his bodyguard-driver in San Pablo City last Wednesday.

Laguna police director Senior Superintendent Gilbert Cruz described Ricky Valdez, alias Avatar, as between 30 to 35 year-old, 5’4” to 5’5” in height and with semi-curly hair.

Cruz said two counts of murder were filed before the San Pablo City regional trial court against Avatar and Eugene Bacoto, an alias El and one alias Budoy last Friday.

Cruz said Task Force Paras will also file charges against a brother of San Pablo City Mayor Vicente Amante, Edwin, who was tagged as the alleged mastermind in the killing.

Meanwhile, Cruz said four policemen were assigned to secure Laguna Vice Gov. Cesar Perez, who asked for police protection after the killing of Paras.

Sources said Perez along with Paras are being targeted by hired killers from Cavite.
