ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – Incessant rains triggered flooding on many streets here yesterday, forcing the suspension of classes.
The two-hour heavy rainfall also delayed the opening of business establishments and caused heavy traffic as many vehicles were stranded.
Local weather forecaster Paddi Ajul said they recorded 96.3 millimeters of rainfall, although the city usually experiences only about 20 to 40 millimeters of rainfall.
Mayor Celso Lobregat, citing reports from the different barangays, said no one was reported hurt or displaced, as the floodwaters immediately subsided.
However, residents living on hillsides and mountains have been warned of possible landslides.
