ZAMBOANGA CITY ,Philippines – Thousands of residents were affected when a flashflood swept through Dapitan City in Zamboanga del Norte Thursday, authorities said.
Office of the Civil Defense regional director Adriano Fuego said at least 15 barangays were flooded starting Wednesday night following incessant rains.
“No casualty was reported in the flooding,” Fuego said.
Dapitan City Councilor Apple Marie Agolong said the flashflood affected more than 20,000 residents in the 15 barangays. In some villages, floodwaters reached as high as 10 feet, she said.
