BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – A 56-year-old Taiwanese mining executive lost his car, money and personal belongings to robbers along the national highway in Barangay Bahi, Barobo town in Surigao del Sur Monday.
Caraga police regional information office identified the victim as Wen Tsen-Nan, general manager of Triple Win Mining Co. operating in Agusan del Sur and Surigao del Sur.
The victim said the robbers took his Toyota Hi-Lux (KDZ-735), 40,000 yuan, HK$500, P1.5 million, gold necklace, gold watch, check book and ATM cards.
Wen told the Barobo police that five men armed with .45 caliber pistols pulled over his car along the highway. He said he stopped because he thought they were law enforcers.
He said the robbers then boarded his car and at gunpoint ordered him to drive toward the mountainous area of Bayugan City.
The suspects dropped Wen in front of a Catholic Church at around 2 a.m. Tuesday.
