IBA, Zambales – At least four candidates have filed their certificates of candidacy for the special election for congressman in the second district of Zambales.
Commission on Elections registrar Elaiza Sabile-David identified the candidates as Cheryl Deloso-Montalla, daughter of former governor Amor Deloso; board member Wilfredo Paul Pangan; Alfred Mendoza and Rica Victoria Diaz.
“Only four candidates have filed so far but we are still waiting for the others, including Omar Jun Ebdane, son of incumbent Gov. Hermogenes Ebdane Jr., to join the ranks,” David said.
A special election will be held on Feb. 4 to choose the replacement of Antonio Diaz, who died last Aug. 3.
The special election period started on Dec. 21 and will end on Feb. 14. The campaign period started yesterday and will end on Feb. 2.
The second district of Zambales is composed of the towns of San Narciso, San Felipe, Cabangan, Botolan, Iba, Palauig, Candelaria, Masinloc and Sta. Cruz.
