BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya ,Philippines – The long arm of the law finally caught up with this province’s most wanted man.
Ferdinand Ysit, 43, of Aritao town here, who is wanted for a string of criminal cases, was arrested by police operatives in Santa Fe town on Friday.
The suspect, reportedly a rebel returnee, is also facing murder charges for killing barangay chairman Hernani Obaña of Barangay Bone South last June 20. The alleged mastermind in the killing, one Conrado Legaspi, 53, a retired Army man, is still being hunted.
Provincial police director Senior Superintendent Elmer Beltejar said Ysit was on board a Strada pick-up with three companions when arrested at a checkpoint along the national highway in the town’s Perez Park.
“The suspect and his group were on their way from Pangasinan to Isabela when our operatives intercepted them,” he said.
A 12-gauge shot gun and a modified .22 caliber gun with ammunition were seized from the suspect and his companions, who, reports said were engaged in treasure hunting.
