BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – The Philippines’ oldest dam – Ambuklao Dam – springs back to life after 12 years, to be among the major power providers in Luzon.
The dam, which was built in 1956, will initially contribute 35 megawatts of power. When its full rehabilitation is complete by the end of the year, it can produce up to 105 megawatts, said Mike Hosillos, SN Aboitiz Power (SNAP) vice president for corporate services.
Hosillos said Ambuklao Dam and the Binga hydro power plant, which is also owned and operated by SNAP, are seen to ensure Luzon's energy security in the future.
