BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – Four New People’s Army (NPA) rebels were killed while six others were wounded in another mistaken encounter between two groups of insurgents at the boundary of Escalante City and Toboso town in Negros Occidental last Thursday, the military said yesterday.
Quoting an informant, Col. Jonas Sumagaysay, commander of the Army’s 303rd Infantry Brigade, said the clash claimed the lives of a certain Ka Dodoy, Ka Aiza, Ka Tiro and Ka Dodoy.
Sumagaysay said conflict among local NPA leaders and those from other islands in the Visayas who are deployed in Negros, led to the mistaken encounter.
He said similar incidents happened last February and April.
