CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines – A municipal councilor in Arayat, Pampanga was gunned down by two men riding in tandem on a motorcycle along the Gapan-Olongapo Road the other day, police said.
Councilor Francisco Balagtas Jr., a resident of Barangay Cacutud, Arayat town, was on his way home on board his Ford Everest when he was shot several times with a caliber 9-mm pistol at around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, said Senior Superintendent Petronio Retirado, Pampanga police director.
Balagtas died while being treated for multiple gunshot wounds at the Arayat District Hospital.
Retirado has ordered the Arayat police to track down the attackers who had fled toward Nueva Ecija.
Police were still clueless on the possible motive behind the killing.
