MANILA, Philippines - A magnitude 3.4 earthquake jolted Tandag, Surigao del Sur yesterday but no damage was expected, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs director Renato Solidum said the tremor occurred at 8:01 a.m. with its epicenter traced some 20 kilometers northeast of Tandag town, where it was felt at Intensity 3.
Solidum said the quake had a depth of six kilometers and was tectonic in origin. Tectonic pertains to the movement of the earth’s crust.
