BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines – Two boy scouts drowned in Cagayan’s Tuguegarao City capital while they were attending a scouting activity over the weekend.
However, according to reports, only the body of one of the victims, 10-year-old Ralph Ezequiel Sangab, of the city’s Barangay San Gabriel had been recovered by authorities.
Reports indicated that Sangab and his missing companion, identified only as Jigz, both Grade V pupils, had escaped from a scouting encampment at the Tuguegarao City West Central School, with two others to bathe along the city’s section of the Pinacanauan River.
Said stretch of the river was where three other girls also drowned while gathering banana blossoms earlier this month.
Reports showed that a strong current carried away the victims. Their companion, identified as Lionel Balus, had been rescued from drowning by passing fishermen. – Charlie Lagasca, Raymund Catindig
