MANILA, Philippines – The military is planning to place all Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Units (CAFGUs) under the Army’s Special Forces Regiment to enhance the training and discipline of their members.
Brig. Gen. Jose Mabanta Jr., Armed Forces of the Philippines spokesman, said the training of CAFGUs is part of the core competencies of the Special Forces, which is under the Special Operations Command.
Mabanta made the statement after authorities recorded three incidents of militiamen running amuck and killing their comrades this month.
