BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – At least 25 Bago City residents, mostly minors, suffered vomiting, nausea and stomach pain caused by food poisoning after eating chicken liver adobo last Sunday, authorities said.
Twenty-one of the victims were brought to the Bago City District Hospital on Monday, according to a report from the provincial health office.
Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, provincial health officer, said the victims bought frozen chicken liver from a neighbor in Purok Santan, Barangay Calumangan in Bago City and cooked it for lunch.
A few hours after eating chicken liver adobo, the victims felt discomfort but only sought medical treatment the following morning.
Dr. Jesus Rey Pacilan, acting chief of hospital of the Bago City District Hospital, confirmed that the victims suffered food poisoning.
