CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna , Philippines – Two kilos of cocaine estimated to be worth P10 million was seized during a buy-bust operation in Bacoor, Cavite last Tuesday night, authorities said.
Chief Inspector Christopher Abrahano, Region 4 director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), said Miguel Montances and his wife Emperatriz, both 57, were arrested after selling the cocaine to a poseur buyer.
Abrahano said charges have been filed against the couple.
He said they believe that the seized cocaine was part of the huge haul which coastal villagers in Samar found floating at sea last year.
Abrahano said the cocaine confiscated from the Montanceses was still in brick form and tightly wrapped.
He said the Montanceses even tried to confuse PDEA operatives by setting up the drug deal in several places in Bacoor town, only to change plans again before finally pushing through with the transaction along the Aguinaldo Highway.
During the investigation, the couple refused to reveal where they got the cocaine.
