Cops rescue kidnapped man

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna , Philippines  – Police rescued a 36-year-old man and arrested a policeman on alleged kidnapping incident in Sta. Maria, Laguna, the other day, reports said.

Police said the victim Ronald Bael, married, a resident of Barangay Cabuoan, Sta. Maria, Laguna was unharmed when he was rescued by elements of the Sta. Maria police in Barangay Bagong Pook at around 11 a.m. on Saturday. His alleged abductor SPO1 Dominador Esquerra, 43, assigned in Camariñes Norte provincial police office and resident of Barangay 2, Sta. Maria, Laguna, was charged for criminal and administrative cases. Police confiscated in Esquerra’s possession one 12- gauge shotgun, and six ammunitions.

According to reports, a certain Analiza Ante reported the incident to police when she saw an unidentified man armed with long firearm trailing the victim.

Ante told authorities that the victim was on board his motorcycle, while she was waiting for her companion, when the suspect grabbed Bael. At gunpoint the suspect ordered the victim to drive his motorcycle toward Barangay Bagong Pook.

Lawmen immediately alarmed all police stations and mobile patrols on the alleged abduction. They set-up a blocking force for possible exit in Sta. Maria, Laguna. The cops led by SPO4 Eduardo Lopez Jr., spotted the suspect with the victim along Barangay Bagong Pook, triggering a brief chase. The suspect peacefully gave himself up when he was cornered by authorities.      – Ed Amoroso
