BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines – No suspects have yet been identified in the rape-slay of a female high school student in Mt. Province.
Senior Superintendent Pedro Ganir, Mt. Province police director, said the victim, Winnie Dumakit, of Aguid, Sagada town, was a junior at the Bangaan National High School, and not a tourist, as earlier reports claimed.
Ganir said the teenager’s body was found at the Tengab grounds of Saint Mary’s School.
Sagada is only about an hour’s drive from another top national tourism destination, Banaue town, where American Peace Corps volunteer Julia Campbell, 40, was slain in 2007. – Charlie Lagasca
